Noise Reduction & Soundproofing for Windows
How to Soundproof Windows
Are you experiencing issues with sound entering or exiting your space through windows? Window soundproofing can be tricky to accomplish. To successfully limit sound transmission, it’s important to add mass and density to a window, and to ensure that a window is appropriately sealed.
Limiting the sound traveling through a window can be accomplished in a few different ways. The first option is to use a sheet product, such as our isolé® Sound Barrier Sheets. The sheets are designed to be suspended in front of your window using 3 metal grommets on the top. Each isolé sheet measures 34.5” wide by 82” long, making it a great option for most standard sized windows.
isolé provides:
- Eco-friendly interior blend of eco-C-tex® for absorbing sound and Peacemaker® for blocking sound
- Grommets for easy installation
- Portable design
Another option for window treatment is to create a window plug. While this is a bit more of a DIY solution, it can be incredibly effective due to the mass that window plugs can provide. While there are many ways to create a window plug, the base of every window plug should begin with a rigid material, such as fiber board, to provide mass to the plug. The plug can be improved with the addition of Peacemaker. Wrapping a plug in Peacemaker Sound Barrier will help to ensure a snug fit, and will provide additional mass and density.
