The Problem

Classy Llama Studios provides website development and support to eCommerce companies across the United States from their office in Springfield, MO. They were experiencing issues with noise transfer in their main open-plan workspace, as well as other acoustic issues throughout their office. Erik Hansen tells us in his own words about the office noise control problem, the acoustic treatment, and the results.

"We don't like cubicled environments, so our office has a very open layout. Most of the surfaces in the office are hard surfaces. We have hardwood ceilings and floors. So needless to say, sound control was a problem. Whispers could be heard across the office. We had to enforce "library mode" to keep distractions down."

The Solution

"We decided to work with Audimute due to their experience building custom-designed sound panel solutions for their customers. They have a really great portfolio of custom work, and since we wanted to order some large sound panels, we wanted to work with a company that had experience with large prints.

Audimute suggested installing their standard 2x4 sound panels in the smaller rooms, and then suggested some larger custom-sized panels for the larger open areas. I felt like they were very conservative in their recommendations and didn't try to oversell me. The recommended the "install a baseline of sound panels, test, and if necessary, order more" kind of approach.

Audimute's customer service was great. They helped our design team with the artwork upload and were very gracious with many changes that we made in the process. They kept us up to date with the status of our orders, and our custom panels were produced and sent to us on a very reasonable timeframe. There were a couple of panels warped in shipment and Audimute replaced them without any hassle."

The Outcome

We have short team-wide meetings every morning. We meet in our open office area. Employees used to be able to talk in a mouse like voice and be heard by the entire team, but now that we have the office noise control panels in place, people have to project their voices in order to be heard. This is a great example of how the sound panels have reduced the ambient noise in our environment."
